Insurance Billing

Moonstone Midwifery accepts the Oregon Health Plan, including Jackson Care Connect and Allcare, for home birth services. OHP has certain screening requirements that must be completed during prenatal care in order to qualify for a fully covered home birth experience.

For private insurance carriers, we use a third party biller, Birth Professional Billing, that specializes in out-of-hospital midwifery billing.

If you would like to utilize your private insurance you are still required to pay the “Cash Pay” rate in full. Insurance is billed for reimbursement purposes only.

Because we are not in-network, private insurance companies reimburse based on their usual and customary rates or allowable amount. If the rates are too low you can appeal to your insurance company.

You are still responsible for your deductible and co-insurance. This is why we highly recommend trying to get a gap exception if possible.
