Meet the Midwives

Moonstone Midwifery is always covered by a licensed midwife who is on-call to receive phone calls and respond to client needs. Veege Ruediger, LDM, CPM, IBCLC holds the primary midwife role in Moonstone Midwifery, and often networks with other licensed midwives or birth assistants in the area to make sure there are two qualified professionals to attend each birth. In 2025, Veege became a NARM certified preceptor and began apprenticing a budding midwife, integrating student training into her birth teams.

Jessica "Veege" Ruediger first began attending births in Southern Oregon at the age of 19, in 1996, as an apprentice midwife. In 2003, she earned a BA in Women's Reproductive Lives: Biology, Evolution and Culture from Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington. During her time in Washington, she also completed Postpartum Doula training from Seattle Midwifery School. She returned to the Rogue Valley to start a family, where both of her daughters were born at home.

She spent the next several years practicing the fine art of balancing parenting two young children with midwifery training, attending homebirths as an apprentice and later, as an assistant midwife. In the summer of 2010, she interned at Mercy Maternity Center in Davao City, Philippines. She received her national midwifery certification in 2011, to become a Certified Professional Midwife, and began practicing as a primary midwife. After obtaining her Oregon State License of Direct Entry Midwifery in August of 2013, she founded Moonstone Midwifery as a home birth practice, which has served many hundreds of local families with good outcomes.

Tireless in her commitment to improving the social culture of midwifery and choice-based birth, Veege has served the state-wide Oregon Perinatal Collaborative’s Community Birth Transfer Partnership for over 6 years, working to improve relationships between hospitals and midwives for smoother continuity of care. She served as the Regional Representative for the Oregon Midwifery Council from 2020-2025. volunteering for nearly 6 years as a leader in the midwifery community. In 2025, she co-founded Southern Oregon Midwifery Birth Cottage and became a Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). Moonstone Midwifery remains her home base for practicing midwifery in the Southern Oregon region.

Skilled in herbalism, experienced in providing primary care to pregnant and postpartum women for nearly two decades, Veege is honored to serve the community by offering holistic maternity care to birthing families.

Fallyn McLeod, Student Midwife

Raised on a small island off the coast of British Columbia, Fallyn is a lover of the wild places of the world, as well as the wild places within. Thus has been drawn to the realms of labor and birth.

She began her studies of birth through The Matrona in 2011, and continued on to study holistic herbal medicine for several years through apprenticeship programs and a clinical program at Vital Ways School in Portland Oregon with a focus on women’s health and fertility.  Several stints of continued education in birth were woven throughout the pregnancies and births of her own three children including several birth and postpartum doula trainings through The Matrona, Birth Matters, and MotherTree. She is currently a student midwife, as well as a birth doula.

Outside of birthwork, Fallyn is homeschooling her three sons in a cabin in the mountains. She keeps animals and gardens, explores the wilderness, loves to sing, and is an easily excited, loud-laughing, lover-of eating, dancing, and laying in the morning Sun.

"Reproductive freedom is critical to a whole range of issues. If we can’t take charge of this most personal aspect of our lives, we can’t take care of anything. It should not be seen as a privilege or as a benefit, but a fundamental human right", Faye Wattleton, Former President of Planned Parenthood Federation of America
